1. Q: How are Garden Passages gates built?

Garden Passages custom wood gates are built using mortise and tenon construction just like fine furniture. Superior two part waterproof glues are utilize to insure longevity and stability in an outdoor environment.

2. Q: Does Garden Passages paint or stain their gates?

Garden Passages paints or stains almost all of their Premium and Designer Wood Gates.  In some circumstances customers can order a Premium or Designer Wood Gate without painting or staining, but this often times will limit the warranty Garden Passages is able to place on the gate.

DIY Wood Gates are always provided to the customer unfinished with no paint or stain.

3. Q: Does Garden Passages provide installation services?

Garden Passages does not install gates, but has arranged and managed the installation of thousands of gates throughout Southern California with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. This service is included with all Premium Gates and Designer Gates. Installation management is not available for our DIY Wood Gates customers.

4. Q: How long does it take to get a gate?

Lead times for our Custom Wood Gates varies significantly depending on the time of year and type of gate ordered.  Our DIY Wood Gates customers with unfinished gates often have shorter lead times that full service Premium Gates and Designer Wood Gates customers.

Q: What is Garden Passages warranty?


Garden Passages’ warranties vary depending on the gate purchased.

Premium and Designer Wood Gates come with a 1 year limited warranty and 5 year workmanship warranty.

DIY Wood Gates come with a limited 1 year warranty.

8. Q: How long do Garden Passages gates last?

Garden Passages gates that are properly maintained should provide our customers fifteen to twenty years or more of service.

9. Q: Does Garden Passages repair other companies’ gates?

Because some of our competitors use inferior materials and building techniques, Garden Passages does not repair other companies’ gates.

10. Q: What is the maximum size gate Garden Passages can build?

For longevity and performance reasons, Garden Passages does not build single gates larger than 65 inches wide, and double gates larger than 130 inches wide. Limitations on height vary by style, but as a general rule Garden Passages does not build gates that exceed 108 inches in height.  Garden Passages can fill openings larger than the sizes described above, for larger openings please contact a designer to discuss the available options.

11. Q: Does Garden Passages have standard gate designs?

All Garden Passages gates are custom made. DIY Wood Gates are typically more “standard” in design to maintain value pricing, but can be ordered as full custom. Premium Gates and Designer Wood Gates have unlimited design possibilities.
